Job Description

About the role

 The role supports daily financial and cash management operations, including preparing payments, verifying documentation, monitoring advances, and maintaining reconciled petty cash. It involves reviewing financial documents for compliance, recording transactions accurately, maintaining digital records, and assisting with audits and partner financial submissions. The position also coordinates with project teams, contributes to procurement processes, and ensures all financial activities comply with MAP-UK and donor policies while maintaining proper documentation. 

About You

 The ideal candidate holds a degree in finance, accounting, or a related field, with strong literacy, numeracy, analytical abilities, and effective communication skills. They should have proven experience in accounting or auditing, ideally within emergency humanitarian contexts or I/NGOs, and strong knowledge of general accounting principles. The role requires advanced MS Office skills, especially Excel and Word, strong attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and the capability to work independently under pressure. Excellent communication in English and Arabic is essential, along with strong interpersonal skills, task prioritization, and the ability to explain financial concepts to non-financial colleagues while maintaining productive stakeholder relationships.

Duties & Key Responsibilities
Financial Transactions and Cash Management
• Support the Finance Team in daily financial operations.
• Prepare bank transfers, cheques, and payment vouchers for approved disbursements.
• Verify supporting documents for petty cash monthly and conduct regular cash counts to ensure reconciliation.
• Monitor cash advances and replenishments for missions.
• Review receipt vouchers and liaise with vendors for cheque collection.

Financial Review and Reporting
• Conduct preliminary checks of financial documents in line with MAP-UK and donor compliance prior to review.
• Review and verify expense reports for accuracy, completeness, and appropriate approval.
• Maintain and monitor the un-cleared cash advance file; prepare reports on overdue advances.
• Assist with recording transactions in the accounting system and ensure accurate budget coding.
• Support the review of partners’ quarterly financial submissions.
• Assist with preparation and execution of MAP’s annual audit.
• Maintain well-organised digital records for audits and reporting purposes.

 

Coordination and Procurement Support

• Liaise with project teams on finance-related matters, particularly for medicalmissions.

• Participate in the Bids Opening Committee for procurement processes, including for partners. Compliance and Documentation

• Ensure all financial tasks adhere to MAP-UK and donor policies.

• Verify documentation and maintain proper filing for internal and external financial reviews.

 
Skills

• Advanced computer skills in MS Office, especially Excel and Word.

• Attention to detail, organisational and problem-solving skills, and the ability to

work independently and under pressure.

• Strong analytical and interpersonal skills.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Arabic.

• Proven ability to prioritise tasks, meet deadlines, and communicate effectively.

• Experience in building and maintaining collaborative working relationships with partners and other stakeholders.

• Ability to explain financial concepts to non-financial audiences.

Requirements
Holding a degree in finance, accounting, or a related field is required for this role.
Demonstrable years of experience in accounting and auditing.
Demonstrable experience working with an emergency humanitarian responses
Knowledge of general accounting principles, including preparation and interpretation of management accounts.
